Indore : Ajay Mehra, Regional Commissioner of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has asked the employers to active Universal Account Number (UAN) of its employees before March 31 this year. He also warned the employers that the EPFO would not provide any service to those employers who do not activate their staffers’ UAN before March 31.
Talking to media persons here on Friday, Mehra said that since one and a half years the organisation is asking the employers to activate the UAN of its employees and many of them have not done the same till date. They have been given a last chance to activate the UAN before March 31. The EPFO will initiate strict action against employers failing to comply with the directions, Mehra said.
Talking about the progress of activation and allotment of the UAN Mehra said that
In Indore and Ujjain Division all the employers have been given the UAN but 60 percent of them have not activated it yet. In both divisions the EPFO service will be suspended April if they fail to comply with the directions, he said. It is the responsibility of employers to activate their employees’ UAN, he added.
Call Centre for employers from April 1
Regional Commissioner Mehra informed that the department will start a state-level call centre in Indore to help the employers. He said that the employers can ask their queries, problems at the call centre. The problems, confusions and queries will be addressed by the competent officer.
