Indore : Though the biggest government college in the state is Indorebased Atal Behari Vajpayee Arts and Commerce College also known as GACC, the Government Old Girls Degree College witnessed highest admissions in session 2013- 14 in the city.

This fact came to fore on Thursday when Department of Higher Education ( DHE) released college- wise students enrolment figures for session 2013- 14.

A closer look at the list of colleges revealed that Old GDC stood first in the city with 5157 admissions followed by GACC with 4829, Government Holkar Science College with 4550, New GDC with 2659 and Government New Science College with 1064. The lone Government Law College had seen 321 admissions.

While the maximum admissions in the city were in Old GDC, Government PG College in Barwani stood first in the division with 6009 admissions, including 3540 admissions of students belonging to Scheduled Tribe category.

Besides, government colleges in Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Khandwa and Khargone had 3343, 2009, 4621, 2605 and 3862 admissions respectively. The lowest enrolments were witnessed at government college in Bhurhanpur where a total number of 81 students took admissions in session 2013- 14.

The local office of DHE said that the trend for session 2014- 15 is almost the same. It, however, said that the official admission figures are still awaited.
