Mhow : A meter-gauge train engine derailed due to point blast near Mhow Loco Yard at Mhow section of Western Railway here on Tuesday. the mishap occurred as the track joint point could not get by the engine driver.
According to sources, at about 7 am on Tuesday the engine driver Iqbal Ahmad of Engine No 6636 was taking the engine from washing point of the Loco Yard to bring the single train. He has to take the engine at another track, but, the joint point of the track could not be connected and as the engine passed on the track, a blast occurred at joint point and the engine derailed.
At the time of mishap, some railway employees were working on the track, but no untoward incident reported. A chaos like situation prevailed at the site due to the mishap.
Immediately all the senior railway officials reached at the spot. The railway sources further said that show cause notices have been issued to Loco Inspector LI Verma and engine driver. Meanwhile, the engine driver has submitted his explanation, but the Loco Inspector has not submitted his reply.
The sources said that in absence of coordination between the Loco Yard and station management, the engine derailment mishap are taking place at Mhow railway Loco Yard. Earlier also, an engine was derailed near the Loco Yard and in regard that the station manager Shivkumar Singh was suspended by the Ratlam Division officials, while he was reposted again on his post.
The sources added that the divisional officials are not taking such incidents seriously and giving patronage to Mhow station officials, who are posted here for the past so many years.
