Indore : Giving in to pressure build up by BEd students of School of Education, the Executive Council of the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), on Thursday revoked fee hiked by it some months back.

The university will now have to refund Rs 15000, the increased amount, to students.

The decision taken by the EC on Thursday has made the DAVV’s BEd course cheapest in the State. Private colleges are charging between Rs 35000 and Rs 40000.

Observing that BEd fee was not revised for more than a decade, the Admission and Fee Regulatory Commission hiked the fee by Rs 10000 to Rs 15000.  Accordingly, the EC also raised the fee some four months back.

But the BEd students of School of Education staged a demonstration on June 18 alleging that they were not informed about the fee hike prior to admissions.  The students also approached some EC members with the issue and through their support forced the university to revoke the fee.
