Indore : A youth was attacked by his two inebriated friends five days ago with bricks and stones on when he went back to retrieve his mobile phone. The seriously injured youth was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment on Monday night. Police have registered a case of murder against the two and arrested them.

According to police, the incident occurred in Azad Nagar area on the night of February 24. Around 3:00 am, a police patrol found the bleeding youth near Bhilaat Square. Stones and bricks etc were also found scattered around him.

The police rushed him to MY Hospital where he was identified by his family as Mukesh (32) a resident of Shanti Nagar. However, due to his condition Mukesh could not give any statement at that time.

The police, therefore, registered a case against unknown accused and began investigating. During the investigation, it was found that Mukesh was involved in a number of thefts and as per his family he and his friends— Babulal and Babloo had consumed liquor in Musakhedi area.

During the drinking spree, the duo had kept Mukesh’s mobile with them and Mukesh left for home. When he reached his home, he remembered about the mobile phone, told his family that he was going out again to retrieve it and never returned.

Based on these facts the police nabbed Babulal and Babloo two days after the attack and during questioning they blurted out the whole story.

The duo told the police that Mukesh had indeed come back for his phone and this annoyed them and they fell upon him with bricks and stones. Mukesh collapsed on the ground and fell unconscious whereupon the duo emptied his pockets and fled the scene.

On Monday evening, Mukesh succumbed to his injuries and the police have now amended the charge against Babulal and Babloo to murder.
