Indore: The state, especially Indore district has been facing a scarcity of medical officers and doctors and the condition would turn worse as large number of doctors have decided to apply for mass VRS.Enraged over the orders for achieving unrealistic goals, the doctors of Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers Association are up in arms and decided to apply for mass VRS.
They claimed that they are working under pressure as very less number of doctors are available to take care of large medical facilities in the city. The doctors are also irate on the orders of the Health Department for cancelling the VRS of a doctor.
According to health department sources, the department officials cancelled the VRS of Dr Nagin Jain, who is posted in government dispensary at MOG Lines, with the excuse that the department has been facing acute shortage of doctors.
“On one hand, the department officials has been giving reason of scarcity of doctors in the state and on the other, they are torturing us with lame orders,” regional secretary of MPMOA Dr Madhav Hasani said.He further said that they will hold a state level meeting after June 2 for deciding the further strategy against the orders of the department.
“In the meeting, we will decide about the schedule of our movement against the orders and will finalize the date of applying for mass VRS. We are working under heavy pressure as we are very less in numbers,” Dr Hasani said adding “about 250 doctors from across the state are seeking for VRS only due to the unfriendly government policies.”
It is to be noted that the health department officials issued an order about targets to the doctors of Health Department. In the orders, the doctors are directed to achieve a monthly target of surgeries, OPDs and other works.
