Collects receipts and cards of private centres given by docs

Indore: The State Government has been running various health schemes to provide free and best healthcare services in government hospitals, so that people don’t have to spend huge amount in private hospitals. The government is also spending crores of rupees for the purpose but instead of motivating the patients to get treatment in the government hospitals, the doctors are referring them to private labs and diagnostic centres for tests.

A similar case came to light when a team of district administration led by SDM Sandeep Soni inspected the hospital and checked papers of pregnant women, who were waiting for their turn, on Tuesday. During inspection, the team found receipts of various private nursing homes given by the doctors and also the cards of private centres in doctors’ cabin.

The team conducted inspection following directions of Collector Akash Tripathi. According to sources, a complaint was lodged with the Divisional Commissioner after which he directed the Collector to take action. While talking to media persons, Soni said the complaint was found correct and they would present their report to the Collector.

Regional Secretary of MP Medical Officers’ Association Dr Madhav Hassani expressed displeasure over the action of the administration and said that Sonography machine of the hospital is out of order for over a year but the administration didn’t take any action on it.

“If we refer patients to MY Hospital, they allege that we refer patients to avoid our duties. So, we are bound to refer the patient to private centres as we need immediate report to provide proper treatment,” Dr Hassani said.
