Indore : Experts believe that doctors shouldn’t run towards success rate in IVF treatment but concentrate on delivering healthy baby.

On the second day of the 21st National Conference of Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR-16), the experts shed light of challenges and problems faced by them during the treatment of patient. They also shared experiences during their presentations.

Dr Manjri Khare of the UK shared important information regarding development of embryo and ways to care the baby during IVF pregnancy.

“It is a myth among people that babies born through IVF technique suffer from various ailments. All the babies born through IVF method do not suffer from disease except those who are not taken care properly. Babies may suffer from Cerebral Palsy if they are born premature. It is also not necessary that every woman goes through caesarean after IVF treatment,” she said.

Dr Khare added that doctors use to administer more than two embryos in the womb to increase the success rate which increases the risk of under nourished and undeveloped baby.

“Doctors should not run after the success rate instead of concentrating on healthy baby. Couple should get prescription counselling,” Dr Khare said adding “I suggest that women going through IVF treatment or egg freezing should not wait for a long in getting pregnant and should plan a proper age to get a healthy baby.”

Organising chairperson Dr Asha Bakshi said that national and international speakers informed about the universal access to infertility care, cryopreservation, endometrium and infertility, tuberculosis: a reason to infertility, and other issues.  Dr Bakshi said that the experts also shared their research papers and experiences with presentations.

Research on Human Cloning

The USA’s Dr Robert Oats said large number of research on human cloning is going across the world. “However, no twins are perfectly same that how it can be done through human cloning. Some of the doctors are protesting against human cloning by claiming it against the society and human being,” he said.
