Indore : The claims made IMC officials of close to 1,000 ton garbage collection at Trenching Ground on a daily basis, so far remained untouched.
The IMC officials came up with the digit when the social activist Kishore Kodwani filed a petition with the HC and demanded a 72hr close observation over the inflow of garbage in the Trenching Ground premise. It was said that till the completion of 60Hrs nothing as claimed was measured.
As per the received information, the trenching ground was officially declared as the city’s dumping ground.
Kodwani said that the total garbage present in the premise is close to a shocking 20 lakh ton. If the entire scattered garbage would be clubbed, the mounting garbage pile at Trenching Ground can in itself become a mountain far bigger than the Devguradia hillock. In addition, it was said that after a healthy 60hours of observation several flaws in the garbage collection system has come to the light. The observation would continue till today morning 8.
Kodwani informed that out of the 15 zones of the city, garbage from two zones reaches the Trenching Ground directly. “Garbage from the 13 zones is first sent to the Kabitkhaedi ground and then it comes to Trenching Ground.
Garbage only from 2 zonbes reaches directly. The reason behind taking garbage to Kabitkhaedi and then bringing it in Trenching Ground and why garbage from the 2 zones isn’t taken to the Kabitkahedi plant is far from my knowledge”, opined social activist Kishore Kodwani.
Some major flaws
Sources said that out of total garbage incoming to the Trenching Ground could be examined. It is said that 63 per cent would be garbage, 11 per cent construction material while the remaining 26 per cent could be obtained as recyclable material.
Recycle
It was said that out of 63 per cent of clear garbage, the entire could be recycled and used as fertilizers. A proposal for the same was also tabled but how the project lost its pace is best known to the IMC officials.
