Indore: Two weeks after the department of higher education ( DHE) scrapped their deputation, 37 senior Professors and Associate Professors are yet to join their parent department. Now, fresh orders will be issued for their posting in government colleges, said official sources.
A proposal has been sent to Minister for Higher Education Umashankar Gupta for posting the Professors in colleges, said DHE sources. On January 17, the department had cancelled the deputation of 40 professors, associate professors and assistant professors on the minister’s instructions.
They were given ten days’ time for reporting at the Directorate of Higher Education. The professors, however, did not join, ignoring the minister’s instructions.Sources said, the department, instead, received letters from the bodies where the professors are on deputation.
Academy of administration DG IS Dani, principal secretary of higher education, Chhattisgarh government, vice- chancellors of two state universities, and central government officials also wrote to DHE officials, saying that professors working in their organisations on deputation would be relieved only after completion of their deputation period.
Similar letter was sent by private university regulatory commission chairman Prof Akhilesh Pandey, who wants that two professors working in the commission should continue there. The minister Gupta, however, has turned down the requests. DHE officials have mooted a proposal to post the professors in newly- set up colleges for class room teaching as the department is facing acute shortage of teachers.
