Indore : Citing violation of norms, the District Education Officer (DEO) on Tuesday directed the management of Delhi Public School-Indore (DPS) to suspend its admission process for the next academic year.

The directives came because the school was found violating the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. It may be recalled that the DPS management was selling admission forms for Rs 3,000. Following the complaint by Sankul Principal of Government Higher and Middle School Khajrana regarding this, District Collector P Narahari had issued an order stating, “No school will sell forms exceeding a charge of Rs 100.”

However, DPS allegedly continued to sell the forms for Rs 3000, and this came to the notice of the education authorities.

The DEO had issued a show cause notice to the school asking it as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against it.

As the school failed to reply to the notice and continued to sell the admission form for Rs 3000, the district education officer on Wednesday restrained the school from admitting students until the matter is resolved.

In the notice issued to the principal of DPS, DEO Kishore Shinde said that neither did the school provide any information regarding the admission form charges to his office nor did it cooperate with his representative over the matter.

“This is sheer violation of the RTE Act,” he said directing the school to immediately suspend admission process till the matter is addressed.
