SANAWAD : An unidentified youth lost his life after he was seriously injured in a train mishap near Sanawad railway station on Saturday evening.

His life could have been saved if he was rushed to the hospital on time. The youth’s identity could not be established as no proof or mobile was found from his possession.

However, later the youth was rushed to the primary health center from where doctors referred him to Indore. The driver of the 101 Ambulance refused to take him to Indore as none of his relatives was there to accompany him.

As per the rule, relative of the patient or injured must be accompanied with the ambulance staff. In absence of relative, a ward boy or staff nurse of a primary health centre can go with the patient. But too much time was spent in fulfilling the legal formalities.

Later, the driver of the 101 ambulance agreed to take the victim along with a health centre staff to Indore, but the youth succumbed to his injuries midway at around 2 am.

When contacted, the in-charge medical officer Dr Vijay Kori said that there was no ward boy at the health centre. He had informed about the real situation to the CHMO, Khargone, SHO Khargone and tehsildar.
