Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has decided to setup a complex on the UTD campus which will house examination and confidential departments and a centre for holding exams for nearly 1000 students in one shift. It will also house the computer centre where results and marksheets are prepared.

“The executive council of the university on Friday gave in principal approval for the construction of the complex,” acting vice chancellor Prof Ashutosh Mishra said.

He said that the decision to construct examination complex near auditorium on UTD campus has been taken for better coordination among examination department, confidential department, computer centre and evaluation centre.

Currently, examination and confidential departments are located on the RNT Marg campus and evaluation and computer centres on UTD campus.

“Often lack of coordination is observed between these departments and centres as the two campuses are located at a distance of five kilometers. The coordination issue will be addressed once all these departments and centres will come under one roof,” Mishra said adding that the exam and confidential departments will be shifted from RNT Marg campus to the complex once it is constructed.

He also stated that students will also not have to shuttle between the two campuses for their exam and results related issues after the complex will be setup.

The complex will also house a centre with a capacity of 1000 students for holding exams. “In case, any college refuses to hold exam of the university, students of that centre can be shifted to this complex,” Mishra said.

Meanwhile, the executive council also nodded a proposal for changing the name of School of Future Studies and Planning. The new name of this teaching department will be School of Data Sciences and Forecasting.

Decks cleared for filling 170 vacant teaching posts at DAVV

Decks have cleared for appointments on around 170 teaching posts lying vacant at various teaching departments at with the executive council on Friday giving its approval to the roster.

“The roster has been approved by the executive council. Now we will soon start process for filling as many as 171 posts lying vacant on the UTD campus,” acting vice chancellor Prof Ashutosh Mishra said.

For past many years, teaching posts in many teaching departments of DAVV are lying vacant but little has been done to fill these posts.

In 2009, the university had started process to appoint teachers but the move was shelved after some appointments following a complaint of irregularities.

Ever since, the university did not recruit teachers.

In 2013, the DAVV had published an advertisement inviting applications for nearly 165 vacant posts. But that ad was turned out to be an eye-wash as it had been published ahead of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)’s peer team’s visit to the DAVV for accreditation and later on the same was put in a cold store.
