Indore : It’s official now. Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) won’t be holding the convocation ceremony for pass out meritorious students of 2012-13 batch this year.

Acting vice-chancellor Prof Ashutosh Mishra said that DAVV has dropped the idea of organising the convocation ceremony this year.

“It’s exam season now. So there is no question of holding the convocation ceremony during exams,” he said.

Exams will continue till the end of January, 2016. That means the convocation ceremony will not be held before January.

But the acting VC signaled that it is unlikely that convocation ceremony for 2012-13 batch pass out students will be held even after the exams.

“We have not received any communiqué from Raj Bhawan for holding the convocation even after the exams, as of now. So we may to have club the convocations of 2012-13 batch’s with that of 2013-14 batch and organise the same in July or August next year,” he said.

He, however, said that the university would seek permission from Raj Bhawan for organising the convocation ceremony for 2012-13 batch students in February.

“But I doubt that Raj Bhawan will give its go-ahead for the convocation even in February because by that time exams for the sixth semester would begin. As I see, we have to club two convocations next year,” Mishra said.

This information may disappoint meritorious students of 2012-13 batch who have been waiting for the convocation for the past many months.

Generally, the convocation is held in June or July. But both the months passed without any announcement on the convocation date.

In August, the university had announced to hold the convocation on September 28, but two days ahead of the event, the same was suspended on the instructions of Raj Bhawan.

The ceremony was postponed following district administration’s objection over organising the event on September 28, which was a local holiday in the city. Ever since, a new date could not be finalised for the event.
