Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the allegation against Al-Farooq Unani Medical College principal Salim Akhtar of demanding donations from students for granting admission in Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) course.

The committee comprises director of college development council Sumant Katiyal, School of Life Science head Suresh Chand and Subdeep College principal AK Singh.

The committee has been directed to inquire into the charges leveled against the college by NSUI activists and submit its report within 10 days.

In a letter to the college, registrar RD Musalgaonkar said that the college chairman was told to get the charges probed on his level and file report in the university.

“The college did not probe the matter but filed its reply on November 19, rubbishing the charges. As the college did not probe the matter, the university is forced to constitute an inquiry committee,” Musalgaonkar added.

It is to be noted that DAVV had issued a notice to the college as NSUI activists had lodged a complaint with it alleging that the college was demanding donations from students of BUMS course for granting admissions.

The NSUI activists also furnished before acting vice-chancellor Ashutosh Mishra a CD wherein college principal Salim Akhatar was allegedly captured in camera demanding Rs 1.37 lakh fee, including course fee of Rs 70000 and the rest amount as donation, for granting admission to students.

The NSUI activists had also lodged identical complaint with the Medical University in Jabalpur.

In a letter to the DAVV registrar, the college management said that they were targeted by NSUI activists with malafide intentions.

“The charges leveled against us are totally wrong and are aimed at tarnishing the image of the college,” the college said.
