Ujjain: Concerned with the slow pace of vaccination in predominant Muslim areas, collector Asheesh Singh and municipal commissioner Kshitij Singhal convened the meeting of heads of Muslim community at Begumbagh and KD Gate on Thursday to seek their cooperation in the vaccination drive.
Collector told the heads of the society that from the last wave have taught us that the coming two months should be used for achieving 100 per cent vaccination.
He cleared the misconceptions about the vaccination. He said that there is no side effect of applying the vaccine. On the contrary, it stops or reduces the severity of infection. Having the vaccine greatly reduces the risk of getting infected. Vaccines cannot be distributed on the basis of religion. He asked the heads of society to get 100 percent people vaccinated in the interest of society.
During a meeting at the KD Gate Community Hall, Ali Imam also appealed to the eligible beneficiaries of the community to get vaccinated for the country's sake. Imam Saheb said that unnecessary misconceptions were spread about the vaccine. These are rumours and will remain a rumour, he said.
Achieve 100% vaccination to get approval for work: Collector to Panchayats
Distressed by the slow pace of vaccination in the 44 plus age group, the collector has launched a scheme to reward Gram Panchayats. As per scheme the panchayats which will attain 100 per cent vaccination will get approval for development works proposed by them be it road or any other work. Collector held talks with the secretaries of 30 Gram Panchayats on Thursday. He told them that they should keep a list of people who are yet to be vaccinated in respective villages. Vaccination will be done by sending a mobile van from Ujjain. Complete this work in two days. The panchayats should submit a proposal for works and the proposals of the ones which achieve 100 per cent vaccination will be approved immediately, collector said.
MP takes up awareness drive on corona norms
As unlock process started, many people were out on roads without wearing masks. MP Anil Firojia on Thursday, undertook awareness drive on wearing masks and other corona norms in the Freeganj. He walked for over 2 hours, requesting people, with folded hands, to use masks. He also distributed masks to the needy.
