Indore : Police nabbed a listed criminal of Pardeshipura police station area, who carried a reward of Rs 20000 on his head, from Gomatgiri hills here on Friday. The police also arrested six others who assisted the goon during his run from the law. The police have seized a pistol and a live cartridge from his possession.
According to the police, Amar Bhanja of Kulkarni Ka Bhatta, has 21 cases, mostly of extortion, registered against him with Pardeshipura, Aerodrome, Juni Indore, Bhawarkuwan and Khajrana police stations in Indore and Madhav Nagar police Station in Ujjain. He also had four permanent warrants issued against him by Khajrana Police.
On a tip-off that Amar Bhanja was meeting his accomplices and collect some money near Pitra Parvat on Gomatgiri hills, a police team laid a trap. As soon as Amar reached the spot, the team nabbed him and his associates. The police also seized a pistol and a live cartridge from Amar’s possession.
Amar Bhanja was reportedly absconding since a long time. During this time he had threatened one Sanju Mohare of Tirupati Nagar asking him to cough up Rs 50 lakh. Cases under Sections 507 of the IPC and 66 A of the Arms act were registered against Bhanja, on Mohare’s complaint.
Later Amar threatened Mohmad arif Khan and Haider Ali for extortion of money after they had sold a house. The duo reportedly paid some money before and the new threat led to registration of cases against him at Juni Indore and Aerodrome Police Stations.
Besides Amar, the police also arrested Rakesh Verma resident of Gomati Nagar, Ram Singh Jaduan resident of Scheme No 51, Babloo Thakur resident of Chatribagh, Bheem Singh Yadav resident of Ramkrishanbagh Colony, Govind Valmik resident of Gaddi Adda and Amonaj Nagar resident of Dheeraj Nagar for aiding and assisting Amar during his run from the law.
