Indore : District Consumer Forum has penalised a footwear dealer for selling substandard shoes to a city resident. The Forum has asked the dealer to give new shoes of the same brand and price to him and compensate for his physical and mental harassment and petition expenditure.
Vishal Chandel had purchased a pair of branded shoes from Rani Sahiba Chappal. However, he was taken aback when the shoes became unusable with their sole and stitching ripping apart within eight days of use. When he complained of the same to the dealer, he assured him of replacing the shoes. But he did not keep his word.
Even when Chandel sent a legal notice to the dealer, he did not budge. He then approached the Consumer Forum seeking either a replacement or the refund money.
