Indore : Two days after the Lok Ayukta police initiated a probe against Ward No 34 corporator Chintu Chokse and some officials of the IMC and Department of Horticulture citing alleged financial bungling in renovation of some gardens, activists of the Congress staged a demonstration at the Lok Ayukta office on Friday alleging that Chokse was dragged in the case at the behest of the BJP.
The protestors claimed that the corporator had no role in the matter still he was named in the case as he belonged to the Opposition party.
“The BJP-led government is politicizing the Lok Ayukta. Unfortunately, the Lok Ayukta officers are also working on the whims and fancies of the BJP leaders. Otherwise, there was no reason a probe would have been initiated against a corporator in a case he had nothing to do with,” Chokse told reporters.
He stated that he had no hesitation in facing the probe, but the Lok Ayukta police should also initiate inquiry into the identical complaints regarding gardens in all the 13 wards in Assembly constituency No 2.
The Department of Horticulture, IMC issued a tender on June 10, 2014 for pathway repair, white washing etc for Rs 498000 in the garden of a temple located in Zone 5, ward 34, Abhinandan Nagar. The last date of issue of tender form was July 3 and the last date of submission of tenders was July 7, 2014.
The temple was constructed two years ago and it is alleged that work under above refered tender was completed well before June 10 without proper sanction and tendering process was mere cover up.
There, four gardens in Abhinandan Nagar and eight files were made for the same type of work i:e two files for each of the garden and thus in the process causing financial loss to the corporation. Moreover the work mentioned in the tenders had been completed long before these tenders were issued.
