The railways has effected 14.2 hike in passenger fares from Wednesday.Around 150 Congressmen, including women workers, led by Tandon reached at the railway station at around 3 pm and staged demonstration there. They raised slogans against the Union government and railway minister and demanded withdrawal of the fare hike.

Criticising the policies of Modi government, Tandon said that during the election campaign the BJP and Narendra Modi had promised good days to the people, if they voted to power. But its actions are quite contrast to the promises made to the public. The BJP government has put heavy burned on the common man by hiking the rail fares, he said.

No good days, but the worst days are coming to the common man as the government is planning to increase the prices of petroleum products, the Congress leader said. “The Congress will not allow the BJP government to crush the common people with severe measures,” Tandon said.

In view of the Congress demonstration, elaborated security arrangements were made on platform No 5. RPF Sr Inspector Mukesh Anandkar said that the demonstration was peaceful and no action was taken against them.
