Indore :  Family members of a deceased patient created ruckus in District Hospital on Friday due to delay in post-mortem.

Enraged kin also blockade Dhar Road by keeping the body and staged demonstration against the hospital administration.

The blockade was removed by the intervention of the police and hospital administration after half an hour.

Anil Pandey, resident of Onkareshwar, succumbed to snake bite on Thursday late.

Deceased’s uncle Poonam Chand said, “Anil was brushing his teeth on Thursday noon when he was bitten by a snake. We rushed him to a government hospital in Sanawad from where he was referred to Anand Hospital in Juni Indore area where the doctors declared him dead.”

Poonam Chand said that on Friday morning they reached to District Hospital for getting the body of Anil at 9 am, but the doctor didn’t come for performing the autopsy till 1 pm.

“We requested the duty CMO to take action in the matter but they didn’t listen to us till we blockade the road. We have to go to our native place for performing last rites and it cannot be done after sunset,” Poonam said.

According to hospital administration, on duty Dr Bharat Bajpai had gone to attend the court hearing over a case due to which it was delayed in performing the post-mortem.

“We have called Dr P Joshi immediately for post mortem and body was given to the family members,” acting Civil Surgeon Dr Khandelwal said.
