‘Colleges bandh tomorrow if TI not suspended today’

Indore : A day after police cane-charged activists of the ABVP attempting to observe bandh at Atal Behari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College here, the student wing of the BJP threatened to shut down colleges in the city on Thursday if their demands for suspension of Bhawarkuna police station in-charge Pradeep Singh Ranawat and action against CSP Aditya Pratap Singh were not accepted.

“We have given a day’s ultimatum to the police department. If Ranawat’s head isn’t rolled and action was not taken against Singh, then we will enforce bandh in the college on Thursday,” ABVP state secretary Rohin Rai said.

Rai further said that they sought a day’s time as higher ups of the ABVP are in talks with the home ministry over their demands.

We were suggested to wait for a day, he said adding that the ABVP may call for the state-level college bandh on Friday if their demands were not met.

The local leaders also submitted a memorandum to DIG Rakesh Gupta pertaining to their demands here on Tuesday.

It is to be noted that Bhawarkuan police had cane-charged the ABVP activists following their bid to close down GACC.

The college bandh was called after a dispute between two groups on the college campus, on Saturday.

A case against nearly 10 activists of the ABVP was also registered by Bhawarkuna police under section 151 of the IPC. The ABVP is demanding withdrawal of the case.
