Indore : Lok Ayukta police have registered a fraud case against an officer with tribal welfare department and a private college principal in a scholarship case. A complaint was filed with Lok Ayukta police that Vikrant Institute of Pharmacy in Mhow colluded with officials of Tribal Welfare Department and illegally pocketed scholarship on the names of fictitious students.
During investigation, Lok Ayukta sleuths found the complaint true and registered a case against principal of the college and assistant director of the department.
Lok Ayukta DSP BS Parihar said that Vikrant Institute had obtained scholarship of Rs 29000 sanctioned by the state government in the name of Mandleshwar-based Deepak Verma even when he was not a student of the college.
Deepak is a student of Charak Institute of Pharmacy in Mandleshwar. Charak College too had obtained scholarship of Deepak. In this way, scholarship amount in the name of Deepak Verma was obtained by two colleges.
Since Vikrant College with the help of Tribal Welfare Department officials had fraudulently siphoned off scholarship amount, the college principal and assistant director of the department were booked under Section under sections 420, 120B etc of the IPC and 13(1)d, 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
