Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed bhoomi pujan of the Dhar Micro Lift Irrigation Project worth Rs 1869.72 crore in Lawani Gram Panchayat under Umarban development block of Dhar district on Wednesday.

The project will benefit 159 villages and irrigate 50,000 hectares of land in the district.

The ceremony coincided with a mass marriage programme under Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, where CM Yadav congratulated over 2,100 newly married couples.

During his address, he emphasised that Kanyadan is considered the greatest donation and a Sanskrit shlok- 'Kanyadanam Mahadanam' sums it up.

"It is my good fortune to participate in the marriage of daughters through this programme," said Yadav. The scheme provides financial assistance to poor and needy families for their daughters' marriages, with each couple receiving a check of Rs 49,000 to purchase essential household items.

The CM also inaugurated various development works worth Rs 110.84 crore and performed bhoomi pujan for projects worth Rs 159.70 crore. These works include improvements to education, health, and basic infrastructure in the district.

During the event, CM Yadav transferred first instalment of Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana for 2025-26, amounting to Rs 1,702 crore, to more than 85 lakh farmers across the state through direct benefit transfer (DBT). This scheme provides farmers Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments as financial assistance.

Additionally, Rs 600 crore was transferred to over 27,000 workers under the Mukhyamantri Jankalyan (Sambal) Yojana, including Rs 22.60 crore to 1,036 workers from Dhar district. This scheme supports workers in the unorganised sector by providing financial assistance throughout their lives.

The CM also released a booklet titled "Devasthanam," a compilation of temples maintained by the Dhar District Administration and Collector Priyank Mishra.

The programme was attended by several dignitaries including Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sumer Singh Solanki, Dhar MLA Neena Verma and other public representatives.
