Indore : In the view of Diwali, a cleanliness drive was organized in the city on Sunday. At least 25 members of the Sikh community cleaned all major Gurudwaras’ (26) of the city. Later, they extended this cleanliness drive to temples also.
An essential part of Diwali is cleanliness. It is also essential for health and prosperity. Citing importance of cleanliness and the occasion, a monthly cleanliness drive was initiated by the members of Sikh community.
“We will make sure that this is not just an occasional thing, it will be a monthly affair,” Manjeet Singh Bhatia said. This drive is just beginning of an initiative towards a cleaner and healthier Indore. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan also participated in the drive and visited a couple of temples. “I did not have to pick up the broom as the temples were already clean,” Mahajan said in Mahalaxmi temple.
People of Indore are actively participating and organizing cleanliness campaigns. Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan started on October 2 is gaining momentum with active participation from members of various communities. It is with the efforts of common people that Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan seems to be gaining success.
