Indore : With the number of animals on its premises crossing 500 mark, the City Zoo has decided to release some of them in Ralamandal forest.
Zoo chairman Chandu Shinde said that they are writing a letter to the Ralamandal sanctuary authorities seeking their permission for release of some of the animals at the forest.
The city zoo has over 500 animals. It does not have enclosures to accommodate all the animals so it is forced to release some of them in the wild. Shinde further said that they had even stopped mating of the animals to check their count. “We can’t afford new animals so taking all the steps to contain their numbers,” he said.
