City zoo has third highest big cat population in India

Indore : City’s Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghralaya has become the zoo with highest number of large cats after Mysore and Hyderabad.

Zoo In-Chrge Dr Uttam Yadav said, “The zoo is presently is home to 9 tigers, 7 lions, 6 leopards, 8 jungle cats and the 5 newborn lion cubs. The number count would surely go up in the coming times.” If the figures provided are to be believed than the zoo has 35members of the tiger family.

Yadav said, if the count goes up then the zoo authorities could think of carrying out more and more exchange programmes with other zoos. The zoo had new members with lioness Mehga giving birth to four cubs on May 14.
