Indore : With National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Director DP Singh withdrawing from VC search panel, names of some prominent persons in the academic circle have started doing rounds for the panel. Among the prominent names are of former executive council member of RGPV Ajay Choridia, former vice chancellor Ram Rajesh Mishra, former principal BP Mishra, and Shri Vaishnav Group of Trusts chairman Purushottamdas Pasari.

The executive council of the DAVV which is likely to meet next week would decide its new representative for the VC search panel.

The university officers said that the EC meeting is expected to be held on October 29. The EC will choose one of the above-mentioned persons or anybody else in the meeting.

Chordia had previously also elected as member of VC search panel for the DAVV. In 2009, he was elected VC search panel member by DAVV executive council. Ram Rajesh Mishra and BP Mishra’s names are among the probables due to their growing proximity with the EC members while Pasari’s is said to be choice of a few local EC members.

Who manages to get the EC’s nod will be known only after its meeting but quite a buzz has created on the probables in the university.

Once the EC elects its nominee, the UGC chairman would recommend his representative to the VC search panel. Eventually, the Chancellor would give his representative’s name and nominate one of the members as chairman of the panel.

The VC search panel would then recommend names of candidates for VC post within six weeks from the date of its constitution or such further time not exceeding four weeks as may be extended by the Chancellor.
