Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) vice chancellor Prof DP Singh on Friday appointed a chemistry professor as head of School of Journalism and Mass Communication replacing Maan Singh Parmar, who is going to Raipur to take charge as vice chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Evum Jansanchar University (KTPAJU).
The move came as nobody else in the department was eligible for the post. As per norms, the headship can’t be accorded to a faculty below the rank of reader in teaching departments of DAVV. After Parmar, the only two regular teachers left in the journalism department are Premjit Singh and Sonalee Nargunde. Both were below the rank of reader so the VC had to appoint Prof Ashok Sharma of School of Chemical Science as head of journalism department.
Parmar would hand over charge of headship to Prof Sharma in the morning and leave for Raipur thereafter to assume charge as vice chancellor of KTPAJU. The VC said that he had given a leave of four years to Parmar to take up his new assignment in Raipur. Parmar was also media incharge of the DAVV. Dr Chandan Gupta of EMRC has been appointed on this post.
