Indore: A chain-snatcher was nabbed by the Crime Branch on Tuesday while he was wandering in Annapurna area with intention of crime. The accused admitted of committing eight such incidents. Keeping in view increasing incidents of chain-snatching, ASP Dilip Soni formed a team under senior officers to nabbing the chain snatchers. The team received a tip off that a suspected chain snatcher was wandering in Lalbagh area.

The team reached the spot and arrested the person having features described by the informer. The arrested person was identified as Shekhar alias Chandra Shekhar of Panchsheel Nagar. However, at present he resides in Patthar Mundla.  During sustained interrogation, he informed the police that he had committed chain snatchings in Annapurna and Palasia areas. After interrogation, the police succeeded in recovering eight gold chains worth Rs 2.30 lakh from him. The police are inquiring him further, expecting disclosure of some more incidents.
