Indore: A joint team of the district administration and the IMC has demolished an illegal double- storey building of a local BJP leader on Tuesday.

He tried to prevent the action in many ways, but failed.

The team led by SDM Varadmurthi Mishra pulled down 70 percent of the illegal construction by BJP leader Babulal Pawanr at Radha Swami Nagar in Chitawad and Palda area.

Mishra said that the building was built on sealing land and Pawar did not have permission for the construction.

The IMC officials had received a complaint about the building but they were not acting on it. Later, the residents lodged a complaint with collector Akash Tripathi. On the order of Tripathi, the joint team carried out the demolition. The double storied building was built on the plot of sealing land of 150×150 sq feet The team came to know about the size of the building only after reaching at the spot.

A supporter of Pawar Raju Chouhan tried to stop the action by using his influence.

He even tried to contact Mayor on the phone but the officials did not pay any attention to his attempt.

Some female members of his family also tried to stop the action. When all the efforts of Chouhan and his family turned futile, he rushed to district court to for a stay.

Chouhan hurriedly rush to spot and tried to show the papers of the petition filed in the court. But since he failed to obtain a court stay, the district administration continued the task.

Mishra said the team did not know how strong the building was and had to call a poclain machine to pull down the construction. Naib Tehsildar Purnima Singhi, RI Chandra Shaker Joshi and a large number of IMC officials were part of the joint team. In order to maintain the law and order, adequate police force was deployed at the site.
