Barnagar (Madhya Pradesh): With the arrest of a 25-year-old person, police in Bhatpachalna village claimed to have solved a murder case of 14-year-old girl here.
The victim had gone missing in the afternoon on July 2, A body was found in a sack on the terrace of the second floor in a semi-naked state the same evening.
The girl had come to her maternal grandparents' place to study. She was a student of the ninth standard. The police registered the case and had also expressed the possibility of rape but were awaiting a medcial report.
CSP Satyendra Shukla addressing the media said that the accused Rahul Bheel confessed to his crime in police custody. He told the police that he used to work at the victim’s maternal grandfather’s shop and on the day of the incident, he had gone into the house to commit theft. However, the victim who was alone in the house as her grandmother had gone to the temple and her grandfather was in the shop, saw him entering the house. Before she could raise an alarm, the accused strangled her to the death and later stuffed her body in a sack of garlic.
About how police managed to apprehend the accused in the case, CSP Shukla said that based on CCTV grabs and evidence collected from the spot, we saw Rahul around the house. After the incident, Rahul fled the spot jumping from the second floor. As he might have sustained some injuries in the leg, we investigate nearby medical stores and clinics to get his whereabouts. At one of the clinics in the village, we got confirmed information that Rahul got some treatment there.
We went to his place, but he was missing from there. Later we carried out a search operation and nabbed him from the village. CSP Shukla added that the accused took only 27 minutes to execute the crime and killed one innocent child.
Meanwhile, after local police revealed Rahul was behind the murder of a child, the local administration on Tuesday demolished his house.
