Indore : Indore district, under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, created a record by opening 2.5 lakh accounts in just 11 days. Around 47 banks stood united to support this mission led by PM Narendra Modi.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan formally inaugurated the scheme at the district level in a function organised at Ravindra Natya Grah on Thursday.

Mahajan in her address said,” This is one of the most unique schemes implemented by PM Narendra Modi and will ensure financial security amongst the women. The scheme would also bring banks closer to the common man and will also inculcate saving habits”.
Mayor KM Moghe too supported her and said,”The Jan Dhan Yojana will bring a revolutionary change in the economic front and will also bring transparency on the administrative front”.
President of District Panchayat, Om Prakash Parshawadiya said, “Opening a bank account will also raise the status bar of a common man and will increase his confidence level”. Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey who coordinated the programme said,” The common man will be able to reap the benefits given by the bank through this effective scheme introduced by PM Narendra Modi.” Tripathi, in his address added,” Each and every strata of the society will be connected to the banks on an economic note. Opening bank accounts will encourage people to save money”.
