Indore : Indore Lok Ayukta sleuths on Friday caught assistant superintendent of land records red-handed while accepting an amount of Rs 3,500. He had sought the bribe for declaring a building dilapidated.

During his posting at Indore, Ved Kumar Pandya had demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 from Anil Kumar Baheti for giving an NOC declaring his ancestral property as dilapidated.

Pandya had already received Rs 1,500 as first installment. A few months back, he was transferred to Dewas district but he continued demanding the remaining bribe amount from the complainant.

When Baheti denied greasing his palms further, he threatened to play spoilsport to him.

Fed up with his threats, Baheti approached Indore Lok Ayukta police and lodged a complaint against Panday.

Lok Ayukta sleuths laid a trap to nab the corrupt official and sent Baheti with the demanded amount to Pandya. As Panday received the amount from Baheti at Gangwal bus stand, Lok Ayukta sleuths nabbed him red-handed.

“A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Pandya,” Lok Ayukta DSP BS Parihar said.
