Indore : Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalya (DAVV) officers on Friday had to face embarrassment when activists of Akhil Vidyarathi Parishad (ABVP) furnished Xerox copies of some answer sheets claiming that the original sheets were tempered with.

“The marks at the Evaluation Centre are being manipulated,” ABVP secretary Rohin Rai told Vice-Chancellor Prof DP Singh giving him a deadline of July 20 to tighten the loose end.

“If the loose ends are not tightened and persons involved in corrupt practices at Evaluation Centre would not be punished, we will ensure that the STF comes to the DAVV to investigate the ongoing malpractice,” Rai threatened the DAVV’s custodians.

The threat worked and the DAVV immediately constituted a three-member committee to establish irregularities, if any, at the Evaluation Centre.

The committee comprises School of Biotechnology Prof Anil Kumar, Dean Student Welfare Dr Rajeev Dixit and Prof AK Dutta. The committee has to submit its report by July 17.

Earlier, activists of the ABVP forced their entry into the RNT Marg campus even as police tried in vain to foil their bid.

They entered the VC office and furnished photocopies of some answer sheets which showed that scores were tempered with.

“You did not believe our claims of malpractice at Evaluation Centre so this time we have come up with proofs,” Rai told the VC.

He claimed that gross manipulation to inflate scores of students is underway at the Evaluation Centre and sought a complete revamp at the Evaluation Centre.

Amid the din at his office, the VC assured the ABVP activists of seriously going through the issue after which the protest ended.
