Ambanis, Adani among foreign delegates to take part in GIS

Indore : This time in the Global Investor Summit (GIS)-2014, the focus of the Shivraj-led State Government won’t be on signing fresh MoUs but to remove hurdles coming in the way of investors.

Besides delegates of eight countries, Ambani brothers, Goutam Adani and others will participate in the Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be invited after his return from Japan visit.

Addressing a media meet on Monday afternoon, Industry Minister Yashodhara Raje said that preparations for the mega event were in full swing. She said countries like South Africa, France, Belarus, UAE, Australia, Austria, and Canada had expressed their consent to send their delegations along with their Industry Ministers. She said sector-wise workshop would be organized for the delegates.

In reply to a question, the Industry Minister said: “We have prepared a land bank of 20,000 hectors in the state, which is available in three corridors— Indore-Bhopal, Jabalpur-Singrauli and Guna-Morena. There is no land in Indore and Bhopal. We are also coming out with new land and labour policy before the GIS-2014, work on which is in progress.

International flights from Indore

The Emirates will start daily flight from Indore to Dubai. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will meet Central Minister of Civil Aviation on August 3 to remove hurdles coming in the way it.

Chanda Kochhar will open Academy

Yashodhara said that she met ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar a few days back and she agreed to open a skill development academy in Bhopal through the ICICI Foundation. A team of Kochar also visited Bhopal. Branches of the academy will be opened in other cities of the state.

Textile unit at Budhni

The Trident Group has agreed to open a large-scale textile unit at Budhni. It will be Asia’s biggest unit of such kind.

Principal Secretary to Industry Department Mohmmad Suleman said that there is no shortage of power in the state for industrial units. We are offering power 24X7 to industries for the 8 years.

No merger of DICs with AKVNs

Raje said that no decision was taken for the merger of District Industrial Centers (DICs) with the AKVNs. Industrial organizations are opposing the merger move vehemently.

Review Meeting

Earlier, the Industry Minister reviewed preparations of GIS at Brilliant Convention Centre along with Vijayvargiya. She also instructed the officers to complete preparations within time limit and no hurdles should come on the way of visiting investors and industrialists. Vijayvargiya also instructed officers to take day-to-day follow up of visiting delegates. The Industry Minister also met with Mayor KM Moghe, IDA Chairman Shankar Lalwani and local MLAs.
