Indore : PSU airliner Air India is all set to start an international flight from Indore to Dubai soon. It has sent a proposal to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to seek required permission from the UAE.
After getting encouraging response in the survey conducted among air travel agents of Indore and Bhopal, the A-I is working on the proposal to start air service and A-I CMD Ashwini Lohani is taking keen interest in the proposal.
Sources in the A-I said that the CMD had sent the proposal through the Ministry of Civil Aviation to the MEA, which will seek permission from its counterpart in the UAE. The A-I is willing to start international flight before the Global Investor Summit-2016, to be held in October in the city. It is also undecided whether the flight will travel via New Delhi or Mumbai.

No flight of Etihad soon: Meanwhile, there is no news from Etihad Airways, the UAE-based giant airliner, to start direct flight from Indore to Dubai.
City airport director Manoj Chansoria said that he had no information about the Etihad flight. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had announced during his UAE visit that Etihad would start direct flights from Indore to Dubai in near future. A delegation of the airlines had also participated in the GIS-2014 in Indore.
