Indore : AiCTSL launched midi buses, tele-rickshaw app, eknumber app and inaugurated 140 wifi spots on Saturday.
Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, chief guest of the programme Lok Shabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off the first Atal bus, inaugurated new free wifi spots, tele-rickshaw app and eknumberapp to comply with various government initiatives.
Atal Buses
AiCTSL launched midi-buses with the name, “Atal Buses” to cater to the needs of travellers in the city. These buses will run on eight new routes to meet the requirements of travellers where no public transport is available. Midi buses can transport 32 passengers while providing them with all the latest facilities including GPS, PIS (Passenger Information System), automatic doors and CCTV cameras on board.
Tele-rickshaw mobile app
AiCTSL took this initiative to systematise the plying of auto rickshaws in the city that will mutually benefit both the customer and driver. Auto drivers can control their expenses and decide their journey if their regular routes are preset. Customers will benefit by travelling with trustable drivers.
The application allows customers to book an auto from anywhere at any time. Further, the application user can track the location and time required for the auto to report their location.
The most interesting feature of the application is ‘panic button’. ‘Panic button’ reports the location of the mobile to the police directly once pressed. This is an essential step for the safety of people travelling in autos.
Free Wifi spots
Looking at the preview of developing Smart City, 140 new free wifi spots launched in the city. In view of encouraging digital literacy and promoting online start-ups, government launched free wifi spots with the support from Reliance Jionet and Free as air. Free wifi wiil be now available at various bus spots and popular destinations in the city.
Eknumber app
Eknumber app shows the nearest public toilet information to the user. This application would help in keeping the city clean and hygienic. It follows the call of Swachh India campaign. The application enlists 110 public toilets in the city. Further, new toilets will be added to the application as soon as they are developed.
