Indore : District administration has decided collect suggestions from the general public, people’s representatives, intellectuals and experts on implementation of the Light Metro Train project in the City. This decision was taken at a meeting of high-powered committee convened after a gap of two years.

Chairing the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey said, “Before executing the Light Metro Train project, we have decided to hold a 2 days’ workshop to invite suggestions on its implementation.”

Invitations for the workshop will be sent across to the common public, public representatives, former MLAs, MPs, intellectuals and subject experts, he said.

The project concept will be presented before the participants of the workshop, before taking suggestions. “While giving the final shape to the project, the suggestions and objections would be considered,” he said.

The administration also plans to make the process transparent by highlight ing why some objections were rejected and why certain suggestions were accepted. The move comes after the criticism the administration faced while implementing the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS).

Khan River beautification becoming a dream

The Khan River beautification project seems to have faced a hurdle. The administration had identified encroaching structures on the land. But, its removal can only be carried out if the state government releases additional funds.

Dubey claimed that the project requires Rs 2500 crore for implementation. So far, the Khan River purification and beautification project is yet not included in the Ganga River purification project; even the Kshipra River purification project is not included in the Ganga Project. Hence, no fund could be expected from the Centre.
