Indore : At least 29 houses in Khajrana area, built on ceiling land, were razed down by the district administration team on Monday.

These houses were illegally constructed on the government ceiling land. District collector P Narahari also instructed the teams to lodge FIRs against the encroachers.

After receiving myriad complaints of encroachments on the ceiling land in Indore, Narahari had asked officials to undertake survey of ceiling land across the city.

The survey team revealed that overall 463 hectare of ceiling land is in the city and over 100 hectare is in the Khajarana area only. The survey also revealed that 80% of the land is occupied by encroachers, who illegally developed 25 colonies by selling plots.

Taking the matter seriously, the district administration started an anti-encroachment drive on Monday. A team led by SDM DK Nagendra razed down 29 houses built on land of Survey No 140. A total of 45 houses are built on the ceiling land. Top administrative sources told Free Press that the action would continue and encroachments would be razed down on Tuesday. It’s also learnt that Narahari instructed all the SDMs to lodge FIRs against those people, the colonizers, who developed illegal colonies on the Govt land.
