Indore: As many as 51 companies of CRPF, CISF, Kerala Police, Jharkhand Police, Haryana Police would come here to ensure peaceful Assembly elections.
The police also acted against 1,220 suspected miscreants, who could create nuisance during the polls. This was stated by IGP Vipin Maheshwari in a press conference at the police headquarters, on Friday.
Maheshwari further said that about 51 companies, each company has about 80 personnel, of various security forces would join us to hold peaceful Assembly polls. “ We will also get additional force of home guard jawans.” The IGP said that there were 8,831 polling booths in Indore Zone out of which 1412 booths are critical or vulnerable including 274 booths of the city.
“ We have also acted against 1220 miscreants who could create nuisance during polls. Action under IPC Sections 107 and 116 have been taken against 25,000 people and action was taken under Section 110 against 4,900 people since the Model Code of Conduct came into force. We also banished 242 miscreants and imposed NSA on 13 others,” he said.
Discussing about licence arms submitted during elections, Maheshwari said that about 28,000 licenced arms were submitted and the police also seized 350 arms. About 1128 arms have not been seized as they are used by security personnel. “ We have also seized liquor worth Rs 90 lakh and 4500 arrest warrants were complied,” he added.
Senior police officer once again appealed people to provide information of tenants and visitors staying in the hotels. They said that Section 144 is imposed and it is compulsory for one and all to inform about tenants to their nearest police station. Action under Section IPC 188 would be taken against those who found guilty.
