Indore : Body of a 4-year-old boy was found in a decomposed state in a water tank near his house. He had gone missing five days ago, Khajrana police said, on Wednesday.

The police registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. The family members alleged that the kid might be murdered.

According to the police, some residents of Baba Mansab Nagar found the body of the boy in a water tank of a vacant house. It is also found that the water level was less and garbage was also dumped in the water tank. The police added that the body was found in a decomposed state and the incident was only discovered when foul smell of the boy’s body spread in the area.

Investigating Officer CP Yadav, ASI, said that during investigations the boy was identified as Shahnawaz. His father Hafiz was called for identification of the boy. Hafiz then informed the police that his son had gone missing about five days ago and he even lodged a complaint with the police. Hafiz in his complaint suspected abduction of his son. The police said that some marks were found on the body of the deceased. It is said that the boy might have reached the place while playing and fell in the tank which resulted in his death. Postmortem report may reveal details on the cause of his death.

It is found that the main entrance of the house is locked as none lived here for 2 months now. It is also found that too reach the spot where the tank is built, a whole round turn from a lane near the house must be taken before reaching the tank. Further police investigations are on.
