BHOPAL : In the past 24 hours, two kids lost their lives in two separate incidents in Cholla Mandir and Ratibad area. In the first incident, a 3-year-old boy died after consuming excessive quantity of cough syrup at Chola Mandir area on Friday.

According to the police the victim Paras (3) was suffering from cold and cough. His father as a precautionary measure gave him a tablespoonful of cough syrup which was kept in the house. The taste of the cough syrup was sweet and the victim boy liked its taste so much that he drank the entire quantity of syrup in the bottle.

After sometime he started crying and reported pain in his stomach. The parents were not able to understand what had happened but when the pain worsened he was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition further deteriorated and later during treatment he died.

Police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile in another incident, a 10-year-old boy died after he fell from a tree at Sewania Jod under Ratibad police station area on Friday.

According to the police the victim Pritam Singh (10), a resident of Sewaniya village climbed a tree to fetch berries but the branch on which he was standing broke and he fell down. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died later during treatment. Police were informed and after the preliminary investigation the body was sent for postmortem.
