Indore : Two persons were killed when a speeding jeep collided with a car while negotiating a turn on Sanwer Road late on Saturday night. Four others were also injured in the mishap.

The tragic accident took place near Aurobindo Hospital when the Bolero, going towards Ujjain, collided with the car coming from opposite direction around midnight. The impact was such that the front portion of the car was completely damaged while the driver of the jeep was killed on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Saurabh Tomar, a native of Bhind. Later, another seriously injured man died on way to hospital, who was identified as Kishor Joshi of Sukhdev Nagar at Aerodrome Road.

The injured were identified as Mridula Joshi, Ravindra Joshi and two others who were returning after having dinner at the in-laws of daughter of the deceased, Kishor Joshi from Ujjain. She was married a couple of days ago on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya.

On the other hand, Saurabh was travelling towards Ujjain along with his brother Shubham and three friends, who received minor injuries in the accident.

Father of Saurabh is a principal of Utkrisht Vidyalaya at Jobat in Nimach district and the ill-fated jeep belongs to Alirajpur BEO.

The spot where the accident occurred has become notorious for mishaps during night as drivers often fail to see the vehicles coming from opposite direction due to steep turn.

9-yr-old hit by truck, dies

In another accident, a 9-year-old boy Saawan, a resident of Jagdish Nagar in Bangaga area, was killed when a speeding truck hit him on Sunday morning. The child was riding a cycle to bring vegetables at 9.30 am when the mishap occurred. Furious over the death, local residents smashed the windscreens of the truck and also gave a sound thrashing to the truck driver before handing him over to the police. The police have arrested the accused driver and also impounded the truck.
