Indore : A local court on Thursday sentenced a man to 10 years in prison for raping a teenage girl in Banganga year about a year back. Additional sessions judge Rajesh Kumar Gupta handed down the sentence to 45-year-old Ratan Malviya, whose wife separated from him in 2012.
Malviya was arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl in May last year on the complaint of the victim’s mother. As per the complaint, the accused had sexually assaulted her daughter many times.
He first raped the teen girl in January 2014 when her parents, both labourers, had gone out for work and she was alone in the house. “He then threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident to anybody. After that, he raped the girl several times whenever she was alone at house,” said advocate Santosh Chaurasia.
The accused was booked under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and other relevant Sections and produced in the court. After hearing both the sides and witnesses, the court found Malviya guilty and sent him to 10 years in jail.
