Indore : One the major component of the Smart City plans, Khan River Purification Project seems to gaining momentum. Around 80 per cent work of one of the wells of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is over and work for the second well has begun.
The information was given at a review meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey here.
Dubey told Free Press that all the works are moving ahead as per the expectation. He said that the over 80% construction work of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is completed, while work for another one has begun. The STP will be operational by February 2016. He said that work of laying sewage line is at slow pace with the progress of just 10%.
Touching upon the crucial issue of rehabilitation, Dubey said that it will be synchronized with the alternate arrangement. The residents of the Chanraprabhash Shekhar Nagar will be shifted to Bhuri Tekri. Over 1000 people are ready to move there and the same number of the accommodations is available there.
Dubey instructed the officials to follow the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and ensure to stop the throwing the garbage in the River. Earlier, IMC Commissioner Manish Singh informed the officials that the local body has made the allotment of the Rs 6 crore for the purification of the River. The IMC has pledged to clean the Khan River before the Simhasta 2016 and it will be rejuvenated like that of Sabarmati River of Ahmadabad.
The meeting was attended by Collector P Narahari, Additional Collector Dilip Singh, Joint Collector Sapna Shiwale, Deputy Commissioner Sanghamitra Goutam and officials of the Town and Country Planning.
