YS Vijayamma quits YSRCP; will join daughter Sharmila's YSR Telangana Party

She said that she stood beside her son, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy when he was in trouble and now wishes to stand with her daughter

YS Vijayamma announced that she will be stepping aside from the YSRCP. She made the announcement at the party's national plenary. The national plenary which began on Friday, will conclude on Saturday, July 9.

July 8 marks birth anniversary Former CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhara who died in an accident in 2009.

Vijayamma, while addressing a crowd, said, "I'm thinking of stepping aside from this party. Sharmila (her daughter) is fighting alone. As Rajasekhara Reddy's wife & mother of Sharmila I have to stand with her, my heart tells me."

She further added that she stood beside her son, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy when he was in trouble and that it is only fair she stands by her daughter as well.

"When he (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy) was in trouble I was with him, now he is happy here. My daughter (YS Sharmila) is fighting alone, if I don’t support her, it will be injustice...I am telling you all about this and I request all to forgive me," said Vijayamma.

Sharmila Forms YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP)

Sharmila floated a political party in Telangana a year ago after differences cropped up in the family as YSRCP came to power in 2019. Reddy was against Sharmila's foray into Telangana, however, Vijayamma had blessed her daughter at the launch
