Panaji: “Human mind can overcome any disease,” ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer tweeted on Monday on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The Goa Chief Minister was diagnosed for the deadly disease in February last year and has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, New York and is currently admitted in New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment.
On January 30, Parrikar tabled the annual budget for 2019-20 in the state legislative Assembly, before being taken to the premier health facility in the national capital on the same day. He continues to be admitted in AIIMS. According to the Joint Secretary of the Goa Cancer Society, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Parrikar has set a “good example” for all cancer patients.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly Michael Lobo said Monday said that Parrikar, who is currently admitted at AIIMS in Delhi, is “very unwell” and is “living” with God’s blessings.
