As the verbal-brawl in Gautam Gambhir- Atish controversy is taking a toll, the former came with a strong comment in his defence saying that he will hang himself in public if found guilty. “Challenger Number 3 to @ArvindKejriwal and @aap. If he can prove that I have anything to do with this pamphlet filth, then I will hang myself in public. Otherwise @ArvindKejriwal should quit politics. Accepted?”, these were BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir’s words on Twitter.
AAP candidates Atishi on Thursday accused Gambhir, her BJP rival in East Delhi, of distributing pamphlets that questioned her morals. Reading out the contents of the pamphlet at a press conference, Atishi broke down twice and said she was very pained on seeing it.
Gambhir has denied all the charges and has sent defamation notices to Atishi, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The nine-page legal notice demands immediate withdrawal of each statement made against Gambhir and denies that the former cricketer had any relation to the alleged pamphlet.
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will file a defamation case against former cricketer and BJP candidate from East Delhi constituency Gautam Gambhir for allegedly circulating pamphlets with derogatory and casteist remarks against AAP leader Atishi Marlena.
