Chandrapur: A wife committed suicide by jumping to her death in a river after attacking her husband with an axe in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. In the incident, which occurred early on Thursday near Nakoda area of Ghusghus city, the husband Baban Soyamwar, escaped with minor injuries while his wife, Archana, succumbed to her injuries. Police said the attack was due to the wife’s suspicion of her husband’s character.
Police sources revealed that Baban and Archana had a heated argument on Thursday morning, after which the wife attacked her husband with an axe in a fit of rage. Baban sustained injuries in the attack, while Archana ran towards the Wardha river and jumped to her death. The nearby locals rushed Baban to the Chandrapur District Hospital.
Meanwhile, after a two-hour rescue operation Archana's body was fished out of the river and sent for post-mortem to the civic hospital. Police have registered a case of attempt-to-murder against Archana while investigating into the case are on.
